The purpose of the research is to compare attitudes and expections about parenthood and childrearing in fathers and mothers of preschool children.Special attention is put on examining the fathers and how masculine ideals affect the relation to the own child.The mothers serve as a reference group to which the father' childrearing ideals are compared.The study also examines parents' gender-related expectations on their children and the role of gender identification in parental behaviour.
