In chronological terms all of Swedish-language literature in Finland [c 1500-2000] will be covered.The approach is narrative rather than encylopaedic, from a perspective which is consistently institutional.In the presentation of 20th century literature, genres and changes in the hierarchy of genres will attract considerable attention, keyed to the situation of Swedish letters in the independent Republic [1917] as an affair of an increasingly minoritarian culture.
