ABSTRACT: Artikkelissa selvitetään kuinka suuret vallankäytön mahdollisuudet poliisilla la in mukaan on.Samalla pohditaan jonkin verran vallan väärinkäytön mahdollisuuksia.Poliisin laajojen esitutkintavaltuuksien vuoksi Suomi joutui tekemään varaumia ratifioidessaan v. 1975 YK:n kansalaisoikeuksia koskevan yleissopimuksen.Suomen poliisin valta poikkesi yleissopimuksen edellyttämästä m.m. vangitsemisvallan, pidätysajan ja avustajan käyttöoikeuden suhteen. Kirjoituksessa viitataan korkeimman oikeuden tapauksiin. The article deals with the legal power of the police and the possibilities of misusing power.Because of the extensive pre-trial investigation power of the police, Finland had to make reservations when ratifying the UN Convention of Civil and Political Rights in 1975.The power of the Finnish police differed from the requirements of the Convention in e.g. the arrest authority, length of detention and use of assistance.The article views Supreme Court cases.
