BIBLIOGRAPHIC LEVEL: part of a serial How some scientists erode the human rights we value / Matthews, Alexander REFERENCE TO GENERIC UNIT (Periodica): The international journal of human rights : vol. 4; no. 2., p. 67-78. - London : Frank Cass, 2000. - ISSN 1351-0347 LANGUAGE: ENG ABSTRACT: This essay suggests that there is a cavalier attitude in some scientific research towards human rights, particularly those rights regarding human health and survival. It cites ten examples where this attitude seems prevalent. The suggestion is also made that inconsistent media coverage foments this attitude and adds, in some cases, to this erosion. In conclusion the essay proposes an enforced ban by means of a UN resolution on any research which may endanger human health and life. INDEX WORDS:
