Article 19 also examines other serious issues affecting the exercise and protection of freedom of expression in present day Mexico, including the methods by which the written press and the media are manipulated and controlled, the economics of the censorship, the position of foreign correspondents, censorship of the visual arts and political controls on the church.The study details the important but inconclusive debate on the "Right to Information" and the accusation of biased reporting during the 1988 election campaign.Concentration of ownership, particularly as it affects the television industry, is explored in the light of the questions it raises for Mexican democracy.
