ABSTRACT: In this large supplement, the Nicaraguan Jose Arellano first tells the history of independence of Central America, since 168 as in Guatemala City the Act of Independence was signed. In the second article the Nicaraguan economist and sociologist Rene Vargas tells about how the dominant creollan classes acheeved the political independence, but failed in maintaining the economic one, against the British and United States' interests. In the trhird article the Costarrican historic theacher Mauricio Fernandez gives a historic analysis of the Central American reality. He claims that in Costa Rica very little of the real independence has been maintained, and that a permanent struggle for a democratic government is needed.
